A listening experience beyond conventional audio
We are delighted to share a feature article by renowned audio journalist Doug Schneider, who attended our exclusive event in Vienna hosted together with Steinway & Sons during High End 2026.
Held at Steinway & Sons’ flagship showroom in the heart of Vienna, the event showcased a unique musical experience where a Steinway Spirio Model D concert grand piano was seamlessly integrated with a Steinway Lyngdorf audio system. The demonstration illustrated how live piano reproduction and state-of-the-art audio technology can work together to create an extraordinary listening experience that challenges traditional perceptions of music playback.
In his article, Doug Schneider describes the presentation as one of the highlights of his entire High End 2026 visit. He explores both the technical innovation behind the integration of Steinway Spirio and Steinway Lyngdorf systems and the emotional impact of experiencing a real Steinway piano performing alongside a world-class audio system.
Particularly noteworthy is his observation that the demonstration created a level of realism and immersion unlike anything he had encountered before, describing it as a listening experience that blurred the line between live performance and reproduced sound.
For us, the event reflected the vision that has guided the collaboration between Steinway & Sons and Peter Lyngdorf for nearly two decades: bringing listeners closer to the authentic sound, scale, and emotion of a live musical performance.
We are grateful to Doug Schneider for his thoughtful coverage and to everyone who joined us for this special evening in Vienna.
